Moving in one week!

The next week is chock-full of fun and exciting things!

  • Visiting with families I’ve worked for and saying goodbyes
  • Last day of my art gallery internship
  • Seeing lots of extended family (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, o my)
  • Lunch with my beloved boss and last day ever at the law office I’ve worked in since sophomore year of college
  • My dad and sister come to town!!
  • We pack my things into the cars.
  • Casablanca screening at the Fabulous Fox Theatre
  • MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Birthday dinner at my fav place for Mexican in Atlanta.
  • Make sure everything’s packed and ready to go
  • Drive to DC

Then just three short days until I start Teach for America and one very, very busy summer. Whoa. O, and, all week I will be desperately trying to knock everything off my Atlanta bucket list. Let me know if you’re in the A and want to go adventuring with me! Huzzah!

What I love about moving

  • New places, new adventures (even though this time I’m going back to an old place, I’m positive there will still be new adventures)
  • New roommates
  • Sudden clarity on what things to trash, give away, leave behind
  • Reminiscing as I go through old papers, books, trinkets, etc.
  • The clean, empty room left behind
  • Amazement of how all the things I need can fit in one car
  • A brand new, blank, empty room to make into whatever I want!

and the weekend’s off to a good start…

Today my car got a tune up, I stocked the fridge for my family, and packed my things in my car all before my Dad got home from work. Then the father-daughter time commenced with a trip to the movies to see Contraband. Great movie. Loved it. Life realization: I am not clever enough to be a criminal that can get away with the things Marky Mark did in this film.

Then onto dinner at a seafood joint that had some very tasty fish tacos and one incredibly long survey to complete on an iPad at our table, which meant $10 off our bill! Finally, some TV show catch up with a friend to finish out the evening. A relaxing evening before the busyness of the next couple of days!

Upcoming…

  • Pick up rental van
  • Load furniture
  • Move to Atlanta!
  • Family dinner with friends
  • Breakfast with Dad
  • Lunch and playtime with my two biffles
  • Meet the kids I’ll be babysitting
  • Settle into my new house

It’s sure to be jam-packed and one heck of a weekend.
